Mobility Support to a Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Survivor

Posted in Promoting Human Rights and Conflict Management in the Archdiocese of Bamenda (2012 – 2015).

On the 7th of November 2014, the Commission supported one of the Survivors, Funui Calistus with a bicycle to facilitate his movement to and from his training center where he does welding.

After receiving so many complains from Calistus’ trainer about late coming to work and at time a series of absences, a Justice and Peace Team was sent out to investigate the causes of this issue. The team in its monitoring visits identified that Calistus was living very far away from where he is undertaking his training. Furthermore when Calistus was questioned about this issue, he attested to the fact that he was in need of daily transport fare. It was for this reason that Calistus was supported with a bicycle rather that daily transport fare. However, he was advised to make proper use of the bicycle by being punctual to work while avoiding accidents, and putting a lot of effort to improve on his skills at work.
