The British High Commissioner Visits the Justice and Peace Office, Archdiocese of Bamenda

On Monday 10thNovember 2014, the Justice and Peace Office was honoured by the visit of H. E. Brian Olley, the British High Commissioner to Cameroon.

Accompanied by his wife, daughter and the Communication Attaché to the British High Commission, he was welcomed by the Coordinator and staff of the Justice and Peace Service.H. E. Brian Olley paid a curtsey visit to the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Bamenda, His Lordship Agapitus Nfon with whom he had a tête-a-tête which lasted for about 30 minutes.

In a working session with the Coordinator of the Justice and Peace Service, the British High Commissioner was briefed on the projects the Service is currently carrying out in the Archdiocese of Bamenda. Emphasis was laid on the project “Promoting Human Rights and Conflict Management in the Archdiocese of Bamenda”.

Appreciating this august visit, the Coordinator of the Justice and Peace Service offered a magnificent traditional gong amongst other gifts, to the British High Commissioner, which symbolized communication. This is commonly used in most communities in Cameroon, especially in the grass fields, to mobilize the population for traditional activities and development initiatives.

Ending the visit, both parties promised to strengthen collaboration links between their respective offices in a bid to foster development.
