Protection Of Rights Of Vulnerable Groups In The Archdiocese Of Bamenda.

The Justice and Peace Commission through this project intends to contribute towards improving the living situation of the inhabitants of the Bamenda region, through the promotion of respect for and compliance with Civil and general Human Rights, Democratic Rules and the condemnation of Corruption.

Specific Objectives:

1. Access to justice for vulnerable  groups in the North West Region has improved

2. The number of illegal arrests and illegal detentions has decreased in the four target prisons

3. Community Vigilante Groups develop methods to effectively prevent Child Trafficking

4. Survivors of Child Trafficking have been successfully reintegrated in their families and communities

ACHOMINKO CALITUS graduates from being an apprentice in METAL CONSTRUCTION WORKS in a ceremony that took place on Sunday, 29th April 2018.

Being very impressed with wonderful qualities of Service, Accountability and Assiduousness, his Trainer, Mr. WAMBA ELVIS is delighted to send out this industrious young man, though with regrets as he will miss the strong relationship he has with this trainee.

In other to ensure that he is fully empowered, the Justice and Peace Service, represented by Mr. FORMUH Daniel CHIBIKOM supports him with all the key equipment needed in his trade.

He was also reminded of his responsibility to be ready to train other victims interested in this domain in due course, and to always stay connected with the service and the TIP Program.

Overjoyed by this wonderful initiative, the parents of the laureate were very thankful to the Justice and Peace Service for the invaluable support accorded their son. They promised to strengthen the collaboration they have had with the Service.

Also present during this event was the Vigilante Committees Coordinator for Lower Bafut, Mr.SHABELINE TAJOUH.

Monitoring visits to Vigilante Committees on Trafficking in Persons are Continued

Regular monitoring visit is made to Vigilante Committees on Trafficking in Persons in Lower Bafut, and Mbesa to ensure their smooth fuctioning. Members are encouraged to share their experiences and challenges. They are then technically empowered and eqiuped with the means necesarry to go about their work, while keeping close contact with the Service for any eventualities.

JPS Internal Project Ideas Development Session Based on the Theory of Change

In an attempt to be more results-focused, the Justice and Peace Service organised an internal Project Ideas Development session with staff. Main areas of intervention such as Human Rights, Conflict Management and Peace Building, Access to Justice, Trafficking in Persons, Support to inmates in Prisons were reviewed for a better orientation. Gender, Religion, and Conflict were also mainstreamed in our activities.

The Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Yaounde, Mr. Lars Leymann received, in the office of the Embassy, Mrs Laura Anyola Tufon, Coordinator of the Justice and Peace Commission of the Archdiocese of Bamenda, and Mr. Zounedou Mfonyoumdi, Secretary General of the Islamic Superior Council of Cameroon on the 1st of March, 2017. This reception was in response to an invitation from the Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs to attend a meeting on the responsibility of religion on peace to take place from the 22nd to 23rd of May 2017 at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Berlin.
