In a world where violence and conflict seem to be increasingly prevalent, the importance of peace education cannot be overstated. That’s why we’re working tirelessly to equip primary school teachers with the skills and knowledge they need to instill empathy, tolerance, and conflict resolution skills in young children.
Recently, we had the pleasure of training 20 more primary school teachers in our peace education program, from October 31st to November 1st 2025. Through interactive sessions, storytelling, role-playing, singing, painting, and drawing, these dedicated educators learned how to integrate peace education into their school curriculum.
The results were inspiring! Teachers pledged to create a positive impact in the lives of their pupils, promoting a culture of peace and non-violence in their schools. As one teacher shared, “I learned that integrating peace education is all about finding the least opportunity in every subject to promote love, social cohesion, respect for one another, and combat violence and injustice.”
So, what can teachers do to promote peace education?
- Encourage empathy, tolerance, and active listening among students.
- Build positive relationships with students to create a peaceful school culture.
- Engage students in peer mediation to promote conflict awareness and alternative conflict resolution skills.
- Incorporate peace education into every subject, from language arts to mathematics.
It is worth noting that Peace education is not just for the classroom! Arts can also play a powerful role in promoting peace education through theatre, music, visual arts, film, and poetry, we can raise awareness, express emotions, and foster dialogue. As we continue to work towards a more peaceful world, we ask: As a teacher, have you ever participated in a peace education program? Share with us how it impacted your teaching style!
Let’s work together to build a culture of peace, one classroom, one school, and one community at a time.
