JPS Bamenda is on a mission to promote peace education and build a culture of peace in schools across the Archdiocese of Bamenda and beyond. Through our innovative “Peace Competition within Schools” activity, we are engaging pupils in fun and interactive activities that promote creativity, teamwork, and peaceful conflict resolution.
This activity, which kicked off at Sacred Heart Nursery and Primary School Mankon, has since visited several other schools, including Catholic School Ntambeng, St Peter’s Nursery and Primary School Bambui, and St John’s Nursery and Primary School Nkwen. In each school, pupils from different classes competed in activities such as peace songs, thread game, sack race, and football, showcasing their knowledge of human rights, justice, and peace-building concepts.
We cannot over emphasize how incredibly amazing our peace competition activities have been so far; the joy on the children’s faces, learning of peace education concepts, collective games, healthy competition, team spirit, and supportive teachers have all been truly inspiring.

The program aims to promote creativity and intentionality amongst children, encouraging them to perform arts for peace and appreciate each other’s strengths. By competing with their schoolmates, pupils learn to cheer each other up, celebrate their wins, and build a culture of peace. The program has been a huge success, with pupils showing impressive knowledge of peace education concepts and demonstrating a keen understanding of the importance of teamwork, healthy competition, and social justice. We plan to continue the program, engaging more schools and pupils in the pursuit of peace and justice.
We are building a generation of community builders committed to promoting justice, human rights, and peace and we invite you to join us in this journey, promoting peace education and building a culture of peace, one school at a time.
